About Benjamin Clemens

Benjamin Clemens was born in Denver, Colorado in 1994 and received BA's in Ceramics and Creative Writing from the University of Colorado in 2016. Ben is interested in creating across all mediums, but has found working in clay to be the most compelling and versatile avenue of exploring thoughts regarding the nature of reality and the individual mind's role in constructing it. Ben views the process of making a piece of ceramic artwork, all the way from dust to stone, to be an active metaphor for how our intangible inner thoughts and ideas effect our interpretation and expectations of an exterior, physical reality. Ben's most recent body of work explores how this process of concious creation applies to how we understand ourselves. By focusing on the human figure and highlighting beauty of unforeseen flaws, Ben is underlining the notion of conscious creation with a question; what is the scope of our control  over what we are?
